Jurgen Klopp has said that Nathaniel Clyne will be out for significant period due to back injury.
It was some surprised that the England international was not named in Liverpool Champions League squad, but the manager says is unlikely he’ll be fit until the group stage are almost over.
Clyne has not being in action since playing 45 minutes of the first season friendly at preseason game at tranmere in July and Sport Nobs understand the back injury will take him out for the next the months.
“Nathaniel is working hard on his rehab and we have kept a close eye on his progress, but the reality is we are looking at some time still before he’s back and available for selection,” Klopp told Liverpool official website.
“I am told it will be longer than just couple of weeks, so we Will continue and assess. It’s pretty certain he will not be available for the majority f the Champions League group matches.
“If we are fortunate enough to still be in UEFA competitions in the New Year, he could be added to the squad then. The medical guys are pleased on how he’s responding has shown a really strong attitude given he is not someone who is used being out injured.”
However, Joe Gomez has been added to the squad for Clyne absent.
The Champions League which will run from Sep.13 to Dec.6 will provides Clyne’s deputies with further Chances to impress.
Liverpool have started the season nicely and as well qualifying for the Champions League, they lie second in the Premier League table after three matches, ahead a trip to Manchester City on Saturday.
“Whatbis positive for us is how Joe [Gomez] and Trent [Alexander-Arnold] have step up and grasped their opportunities,” Klopp added.
Coutinho has not play any Liverpool match since the season started
Meanwhile, Clyne is not only the one suffering from back injury but as well as Coutinho, who has been out of action since the season started.
However, Coutinho will be ready in few weeks.
