According to ESPN, Sky Sports and other sources Manchester United have withdran a move for Ajax’s Matthijs de Ligt after reports claims the defender wants to play next to his Netherlands teammate, Frenkie de Jong who recently agreed a £65m fee to join Barcelona.
In a press on Saturday Barca president Josep Bartomeu said: “Every year new players come in. So far we have confirmed De Jong’s signing and now we will work on bringing in others and moving players on, as is normal every summer.
“Now is not the moment to do anything. There are always new signings, but now is not the moment to talk about it.“
De Ligt, who captained Ajax to a league and cup double this campaign has established himself as one of the important players for Ajax in the last three years.
According to ESPN Barca have reached an agreement with the 19-year-old two months ago.
