Atletico Madrid have agreed to sign Spain international Alvaro Morata from Premier League club Chelsea on a permanent basis when his loan deal runs out in June 2020. The 26-year-old will remain in Spain for the 2019-20 season before signing permanently on July 1, The Blues confirmed.
Morata, who struggled to adapt to life in Premier League joined Atletico last summer and scored six goals in 17 games last season while on loan.
“We would like to thank Alvaro (Morata) for his contribution and wish him the best of luck for the future“, the Blues wrote on their website.
Chelsea signed Morata from Real Madrid for then-club record of £58m and he scored 24 times in 72 appearances for the Stamford Brigde club.
