Philippe Coutinho has returned to Liverpool training but unlikely to play Manchester City on Saturday
Liverpool say they’re managing the back injury which has kept Jim at the sideline
The Brazil international has missed out of the Reds matches since the season begin
ajurgen Klopp has revealed that Philippe Countinho is unlikely to play against Manchester City at the Etihad on Saturday.
As the Reds continue to manage the back injury which has kept him out of club action for so long.
The news comes in as a surprise, after he had played twice for his country during the international World Cup qualifying, scoring once before flying home to return to training on Thursday.
The news come after the 25-year-old becomes subject of intense, after Barcelona was unable to land him at the Nou Camp .
Barca wanted to sign Coutinho during the transfer window but Liverpool have no intention of selling him at any price.
Coutinho has not be part of Liverpool match since season begin, and the back injury is likely to keep him out of the club clash on Saturday.
However, Klopp admits his fitness needs to be managed carefully.
“Of course, all good, all good.” Klopp said. And when asked about his conversation with Coutinho, reply. “Nothing else to say actually, so he’s back conversation, so good.
“It’s of course different because Phil, I know what people think, but Philippe had the back problem a few weeks ago and couldn’t train so that means he missed about around 3-weeks.
“Yes, he went to the national team wnf trained normally, but now we have to prepare for a normal season so we have 7-games [before the intl. break} and we saw training this morning and we thought ‘OK, maybe we should use him immediately’ because he was realty good, but that doesn’t make sense.
“We have now to continue with the preseason, not too long, but in a few sessions we gave to give ourselves time because in the next month we have seven games. We always have the same decision to make ‘does he need training or can he play?’ And all that stuff.
“Yes, he’ll now do a bit more than the other boys bit he showed up in a very, very good mood and looks really surprising.”
Despite having been in the reds shirt this season Coutinho has able to strike twice during the World Cup qualifying .
